Types of finishing for lampshades.
The rims can be finished in different ways:
1. Rolled edges: the fabric is rolled around the metallic structure.
2. Self tape: only on round lampshades with a diameter of 24" or less.
3. Fabric ribbon: generally used on oversized lampshades when not all the forms are round.
4. Directly on the metal: nothing covers the metallic structure.
5. Self trim: this can be added over all the other types of finishing mentioned above.
Do you have any questions about the various types of finishing? We are on hand to guide you through the entire fabrication process of your lampshades.
There are numerous shapes of lampshades available.
The shape possibilities vary widely and each shape can be modified.

Looking for soft back lamphades?
This is the most complex method, perhaps because the result is so elegant!
There are two main ways of making a lampshade: either with fabric laminated on a rigid backing (hard back shade) or without rigid backing (soft back shade).
A soft back lampshade has no rigid backing. This requires a metallic structure with vertical struts rods and uprights supports that provide the form of the shade. This method requires longer production time.
You can provide your own fabrics, but we must test them first. To find out how to measure the quantity of tissue required for your custom project, see our FAQs.

Looking for hard back lampshades?
The fastest method, and the most rigid!
There are two main ways of making a lampshade: either with or without rigid backing (soft back).
The tissue is glued onto rigid plastic, which gives strength to the walls/sides. The various assembly methods available usually means that production is faster.
